Create a Website for Your Restoration Business

There are tools every restoration business needs, like air movers, dehumidifiers, and moisture meters. A website for your business belongs in this category! Your website acts as a salesperson that is always on the clock. Having a clean, easy-to-navigate website should be on your business opening checklist.

Creating a website is not a hard task, but it may feel overwhelming if you’ve never done it before. There is SO much information about creating a website, and many of these resources make it sound more complicated than it is because they want you to purchase their website creation service. That’s not to say you shouldn’t hire someone to create your website, just that you don’t have to because you can do it yourself. And it’s pretty easy to build a basic website.

3 Things You Need to Build a Website

1. Domain Name

Simply put, this is how clients get to your website. When you open a browser, your domain name is what clients type into the search bar to go to your website. is our domain name.

Your domain name should be something short, easy to remember, and easy to type (the longer it is, the easier it is to mistype it). If possible, it should be your business name or similar. Example: Vista Restoration in Bentonville, Arkansas has the domain name

When you purchase a domain, you “rent” it for a specified period, usually starting with a year, but can be as long as you want. You also have the option to renew your domain name before it expires. A domain costs about $12/year. Search for your domain name and purchase it.

2. Website Hosting

After you have your domain name, you will need a hosting service. This service puts your website on the internet for clients to find. Hosting is a monthly fee and is anywhere from a few dollars a month for a shared server, to thousands of dollars for your own private server. To get started, the basic hosting plan will work for your website! You can get website hosting for just $1.79/month with Fast Comet.

3. Website Builder

Now that you have your domain name, and it’s being hosted, you need to build your website! You can build your website by coding it yourself, or you can use the MUCH easier way of using a website builder. There are a ton of website builders out there, and many of them are drag-and-drop and super easy to use.

One of the most popular website builders is WordPress. WordPress allows you to easily and quickly build websites, and you can also use “Plugins” for WordPress which gives additional functionality. The Elementor plugin is a drag-and-drop website builder plugin for WordPress.
